Heart of Yorkshire 2.0

Over 300 Riders participate in Heart of Yorkshire 2.0

On a coldish and grey Sunday morning at the First Direct Arena Leeds over 300 riders registered and set of to the Heart of Yorkshire.  The mood was certainly not cold and grey as the riders set off along through the pre morning Leeds City streets resplendent in their matching Event Jerseys.  The sun began to shine as the riders approached Hessay.

Hessay is the current geographical centre of Yorkshire and provided the warmest of welcomes with local resident Gary opening his doors to over 300 guests.  From there it was a coffee and cake extravaganza at the Schoolhouse, Rufforth supported by Kim Leadbetter and her More in Common volunteers.

Over 250litres of coffee and tea were downed at this truly Yorkshire stop along with copious amounts of cake!!

Finally after a visit to the Mexborough Arms in Thorner the cyclists arrived back at Leeds Arena to a rapturous applause, glorious sunshine and finish line photos!

Congratulations go to all riders and thanks to all the volunteers who made it happen.

Look forwards to next year and Heart of Yorkshire 3.0
